House style: very much in the 'modern' style, with higher than average alcohol, and slightly drier than normal. Sometimes the alcohol content is dramatically higher than normal.
2004 Trittenheimer Apotheke Tiesling Spätlese** €14.60
Pale Gold. Farly good nose after a few seconds, but not fantastic fruit or acidity on the palate. The fruit does improve after the bottle has been open for a few minutes, but is never outstanding.

2003 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Spätlese*** €14.60
Alc. 9.5%
Pale gold without hints of green. Slight scent of pears on the nose, with a little more pears on the palate. The rather high alcohol content is noticeable as a somewhat dry flavour throughout which masks the fruit, and is not very pleasant. The acidity is fairly low (judging from flavour alone) and rather soft, which also doesn't help. Slightly lacking in minerality and complexity. This wine does improve after the bottle has been open for a few hours, however.
May improve for 5 years.

2001 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Spätlese** €14.50
Alc. 8%
Very pale gold. Rather floral nose, but not all that pronounced. Pleasant but not very high acidity with fairly good fruit. Fairly sweet, but not exceptionally so, but quite elegant. This is quite a good wine, but not exceptional, lacking concentration and complexity somewhat.

1998 Trittenheimer Apotheke Riesling Auslese** €21.50
Alc 7.5%
Pale Gold without hints of green. Lively, slightly floral nose. Excellent yellow fruit on the palate, no botrytis showing yet (there was a lot of botrytis in 1998), and fairly rich with good acidity. Fairly good minerality, this is a very good wine. I wish I'd tasted it much earlier - after the 2003 Spätlese above I stored all the rest away, and have only just brought them out again. I much prefer the lower alcohol of this wine.
Unlikely to improve but will last for many years.
